In 2021, I shifted my practice to primarily work with oil. I explore the idea of organic life sprouting in a ravaged wasteland; an unoriginal concept, but one I could not ignore given our collective circumstance. To ignore what is plaguing your mind would be tantamount to lying to yourself. I mean, I lie to myself all the time, but to not allow my life manifest into my practice would be severing a critical connection between making a living and a means of expression that has provided me some semblance of fantastical optimism that I imagine—along with the rest of the world. Ideas of regeneration, mutation, and metamorphosis have been a part of my practice, so new work is an extension of that.
